Being a self-taught artist, I have undertaken a number of artistic endeavours over the years but have concentrated on painting in the last 15years.
I work mostly in oils, watercolours and acrylics but have been exploring mixed media and alcohol ink. Exploring colours and textures, experimenting with different techniques and merging these to create original pieces of art.
With each new painting I learn more of the excitement that comes from creating something special, with tonal values, colours.
I started painting only on retirement from full time work, being fascinated by various different media and on the way each medium reacts.
I show regularly in Melbourne and country Victoria.
My subjects are influenced by my travels my garden and the photographs that I have taken, recreating some of, my favourite scenes.
Lately I have done several commissions of paintings for children’s bedrooms, using images of their favourite things and places.
Being the recipient of a grant from Melbourne City Council last year used this to have a group exhibition in the Docklands Library
For this exhibition I did several pieces of my own and joined with others in the group to create mixed media pieces such as oil paint and embroidery and a background for an artist that uses junk.
In February I exhibited several works in ”Sustainable Living Festival” in Geelong and North Melbourne these pieces all been made from recycled materials which were destined for land fill but are now recycled and hopefully will enrich somebody’s life
With each new painting I learn more of the excitement that comes from creating something special, with tonal values, colours,
