Dr Megan-Jane Johnstone AO is an emerging contemporary artist who resides in Melbourne. In 2017, after a successful career spanning over 43 years, Megan-Jane retired from her position at Deakin University in order to re-enage with her childhood ambition to be a visual artist. Self-taught, she works in mixed media using water-based paints (watercolour, gouache, acrylic), acrylic inks and soluble graphite. Her paintings encompass contemporary and abstract expressions of iconic landscapes found in New Zealand (where she grew up) and outback regions of Australia through which she has travelled extensively. Megan-Jane has recently completed a series of works informed by her favourite bush tracks located in Victorian State forests, on which she has ridden by horseback during the past 30 years. She is an exhibiting member of the Victorian Artist Society (VAS) and MAVA, and an exhibiting subscribing member of the online galleries Bluethumb and Gallery 24/7. She has also exhibited works at the following galleries: Bundoora Homestead (A3 Annual exhibition), Linden (select annual postcard exhibition), VAS (members select seasonal and themed exhibitions), CAS (A4 select annual exhibition), Art Aviso (members exhibition), Old Art Auction House, Keyneton (select group exhibition), and the select Banyule Art Salon 2020.
