A River Runs Through It
A Rivers Runs Through It is an art series that talks about our relationship with our waterways. This workis about the Werribee River. The feather in the jar represents the Orange Bellied Parrot, a bird that is so endangered that only has 50 in the wild. The rope on the wood represents the seven platypus that were killed in an illegal fishing trap in 2018 and reduced the local wild platypus number to under 50. I want to use this work to remind people to take responsibility for protecting our wildlife. Do not litter, take fishing line home and do not set up illegal fishing traps. I don’t want the future generation to only learn about a bird from a feather in a jar or platypus being killed.
