Plastic is not Fantastic
Plastic is not Fantastic is crafted from coffee cup lids, sushi plastic, and small bread bag clips. It addresses the issue of excess waste and the omnipresence of plastic in most of the products we consume. It references the plastic island currently floating in the Pacific Ocean, as well as the ongoing and growing pollution we face day by day. The pink hue of the fish matches the colour of my character's skin, symbolizing micro- pollution and supporting the scientific evidence demonstrating the presence of plastics in our bodies. My artwork underscores the lack of environmental awareness prevailing in society. It is essential that we reflect every time we choose to purchase products containing plastic, as in the end, all of this contributes to the generation of more waste that will ultimately contaminate our oceans.
