Thrifty Days
Thrifty Days is a response to the sustainability theme and as the name alludes to: “Thrifting” or “OpShopping”, which I love to do. The women featured are representative of the quirky, colourful, OOAK type fashions you may be lucky enough to find while lessening your environmental impact in terms of textile waste. I have used a canvas that I started a while ago but was not happy with and chose to stitch over the top using background elements already present. The thread used was all sourced from local op shops. I used small fabric test samples of my own designs as some of the clothing andaccessories. Being more conscious of sustainability is something I have become much more aware of the older I have gotten, and I try to do my best to consider my impact, making small changes where I can. I am by no means perfect but if we can all do something small it can add up to something muchbigger!"
