Violet Impressions
Violet Impressions is a landscape surface of pixels, painted in a subtle violet colour. The work explores theintegration of screen technology into the urban landscape through a focus on surface. Hinting at the integration of media into the environment, the piece questions the interplay and relationship of the digital and physical. The piece has a variegated pattern and is unified through colour, presenting the work as both a landscape and a screen. Violet Impressions is part of the artists “Landscape” series which explores the role of screens in contemporary society. Working beyond a physical and digital dichotomy, the series investigates the proliferation of the urban experience through screen affect. This work encourages the audience to recognise new surface conditions of the city and to question shifts in urban experience and the role of screens in contemporary society.
