For Kalina Brew (also known as Kalina de Bruin) creativity has always been an important part of her life. This passion initially led her to pursue a career in Interior Design. Following an interstate move and the birth of her first child, Kalina decided to retrain as a primary school teacher, relegating her more creative pursuits to her spare time. One particular year she was given the opportunity to teach Art at her school and, while guiding her students with their own creativity, she realised that creativity needed to become a significant part of her life once again.

Pauline Bailey Art & Books
I was born in the Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh, and have lived in Gippsland since 1990. I travel frequently to the city where I draw inspiration from Melbourne's vibrant culture, but I enjoy the contrast of working from the quiet surrounds of my studio at home. My favourite subjects are pubs, cafés, shopfronts and dilapidated buildings. Some are iconic and very much a part of the fabric of the city, others are ordinary, non-descript structures, but they all reflect my passion for the urban environment.

There’s an abundance of life and energy in Australian nature. By painting what I encounter, I pursue beauty, explore deep emotions and make connections between the heart and mind inside me, and the changing world around me.
I share my work because I hope other people will relate to my experiences, and it will help them to understand themselves and their surroundings.
